A very pleasant week! by
Kathy S. from Austin,TX
Sailing date: Jan 2009 Pros:
Jazz trio, not having to fly to port, diningroom service, dinner food, itinerary
Cons:
Staff member running the karaoke...he ruined what should be a fun experience
Would recommend this cruise! The Conquest was beautifully decorated and the itinerary was great. Our stateroom was wonderful. The food is far better on Carnival than Royal Caribbean and our dining room staff was outstanding. We topped off each evening listening to the best live jazz ever in Alfred's Bar with an excellent server named Karen. The Dallas Garvin Trio was absolutely top quality! We are so sad Carnival is eliminating such first class music. The cruise dance/sing troupe was not up to par. The pool band was definitely above average. This ship would be better off replacing their karaoke leader. He does not work well with people.

Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality Please replace karaoke leader. He tarnishes otherwise top-notch service. Stateroom steward: Melvin, dining servers: Yoli and Made, bar server: Karen all were examples of consistent "above and beyond".
Entertainment & Activities Dallas Garvin Jazz Trio TOP QUALITY!!! Please don't eliminate jazz trios!!! Great variety of schedules and options. Karaoke unnecessarily poor.

7 day cruise to Carribean by
A Traveler from Ft Worth TX
Sailing date: Dec 2008 Pros:
food and staff were amazing
Cons:
the boat rocked alot, took a few days to acclimate
We had a great time, gained some weight for sure. Montego Bay is not a good port, be sure to book s shore trip that goes to either the beach or Oches Rios (2 hrs away). Montego Bay is very poor and very dirty and they seem quite desperate.
Grand Cayman and Cozumel were great ports, very clean and relaxing.
Ship was awesome, staff very polite.

Cozumel, Mexico stick around the port, not worth the drive into town.
Snorkle sites were crowded
Don't Miss: snorkle, but it is crowded
George Town, Grand Cayman great island
Don't Miss: shipwreck snorkle
Montego Bay, Jamaica Dont stick around Montego Bay, get a trip away from there. It is impoverished and dirty, was offered drugs and prositutes often while shopping for t-shirts.
Don't Miss: zipline/ Go to Oches Rios

Great Trip!! Best Caribbean Itinerary! by
A Traveler from Phoenix, AZ
Sailing date: Aug 2008 Pros:
The stops on the trip, the size and cleanliness of the ship, the comedy shows, the piano bar, the food in the dining room
Cons:
the room service was really slow, the piano bar guy (vince) asked for tips too much
Went on this trip for an anniversary - best itinerary for the caribbean by far! 3 stops gives plenty of time to relax! In Jamaica, definitely climb Dunns River Falls..worth the bus ride there. Swimming at Sting Ray City in Grand Cayman was amazing. Cozumel was the most pleasant surprise, however. We had A LOT of fun on the excursion - ride jeeps to the beach for lunch/swimming, then go snorkeling in a cave! Absolutely amazing! This was my first cruise on Carnival. Previously, I had only gone on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. Although the food is slightly - just slightly - better on these two, they do not compare to the nightlife and activities on carnival. Carnival has a piano bar and three nights of stand-up comedy, often with multiple showings, as well as the on-deck movie screen. Also, I was happy to see there wasn't a ton of unsupervised little kids, as is always a fear with Carnival. But, I think Carnival is better for young adults in their 20s, 30s, even 40s who like to go out - there is actually a nightlife. On Royal Caribbean, the dance floor was often dead and there is no piano bar!! My one complaint would be that the room service was really slow...sometimes they didnt answer, and they don't offer any hot food on the menu. On Royal Caribbean you can get pizza in your room 24/7, but here you have to go to the top deck to get it - which was on the opposite side of the boat as our room. But, overall, one of the best trips!

Dining/Food Only problem was the slow room service!

Montego Bay, Jamaica too many locals begging and offering "stuff", made you feel insecure and wanting to get away from them instead of enjoying the area
Don't Miss: recommend going on planned excursions to avoid the local people and stay within a group

Pretty great experience by
Nicole W. from Boise, ID
Sailing date: Jan 2008 Pros:
Being waited on at all times. Service was excellent.
Cons:
The cost of all the excursions through the Carnival Cruiseline
The ship was very clean and easy to get around. We signed up for the early dinner and were placed on the late dinner. I tried to change, but was unable. It actually worked out, because we were in no rush to get back on the ship when ported. The service was excellent. Our room was cleaned 3 times per day. The service staff were very friendly. I was given medication for free when I was feeling a bit sea sick. It made me very drowsy, but it didn't cost me!
Ship Quality The ship was very clean and decorated beautifully. It was fairly easy to get around and find things.
Dining/Food The lunch buffet and restaurant dining were very good. The breakfast not as much. There is food all the time, which is nice. If you don't purchase the drinks (very costly), they give water, lemonade, juices, coffee, hot chocolate and milk for free.
Stateroom Quality Our room was cleaned 3 times per day. The room attendants were very friendly and worked very hard. The beds are very comfortable. We weren't in our room much, but it was nice when we were. There is DISH satellite in the rooms and they show free movies each day on the television.
Ship Staff Quality The service staff for the rooms and dining areas were excellent. Extremely hard working. As soon as your plate was finshed they were right there to take it away and clean your area, allowing you to go for more! The service at the desks were sometimes helpful, sometimes not as much. Our ship was delayed 5 hours coming in to port due to fog. The desk staff and those in charge were not very understanding of missed flights, etc.
Entertainment & Activities The cruise director was very energetic and fun. The dancers were not very good. A lot of off-synch, etc. Some of the entertainment was fun, some we could have missed. There were a ton of activities throughout the day. There was always something to do or somewhere to go.
Collapse List of Ports
Cozumel, Mexico Very beautiful and friendly people. We went on the Isla Pasion Island excursion. It was pretty, but costly. Lots of inexpensive shopping.
Don't Miss: We'd suggest snorkeling near the reefs. Buy the excursion off the boat in the port.
George Town, Grand Cayman Absolutely beautiful! Very clean, a lot of shopping, but can be expensive. Seven Mile Beach was wonderful. Sting Ray City is a must! Buy the excursion off the boat, however. It's 1/3 of the price! And, they are right there in port to take you.
Don't Miss: Sting Ray City, purchased off the boat in port.
Montego Bay, Jamaica Montego Bay was horrible! Unless you purchase an excursion at a private resort, it's awful. We went to a local beach and still paid to get in. It was packed, so we decided to walk around town. Bad idea! We were harrassed by the locals the entire time. You can't even shop without the locals hovering over you. It was dirty and a lot of criminal activity. We were repeatedly asked if we "wanted to party", which means did we want to buy marijauna. We were followed and harrassed until we gave one local some money just to get him to leave us alone. We had friends on the ship who took the excursion to Dunns River Falls about 2 hours away from port. They felt there lives in danger on the hairpin turns through the winding cliff roads. We heard Ochos Rios was nice, but it was still 1 1/2-2 hours away. I don't understand why they port in Montego Bay.

First Cruise but had a great time! by
Adriane R. from Miami, OK
Sailing date: Jan 2008 Pros:
Wonderful Staff, Excellent Food, Clean Ship, Beautiful
Cons:
Very small rooms and bathroom, could have used more entertaining shows.
It was my first cruise so I was super nervous. Upon entering the ship I was immediately relieved! The size was massive so I felt safe. The staff was very professional, courteous and trustworthy. I thought we might feel like a rocking horse the whole time but it was much smoother than expected. Ship was always clean and luxurious. Ready for my next one!
Ship Quality HUGE Boat, I got lost a few times, was always clean with wonderful decor.
Dining/Food You can eat 24/7 Great QUALITY food. Wow.
Stateroom Quality Very tiny rooms; decor was plain but always clean.
Ship Staff Quality Always went above and beyond. Professional and friendly.
Entertainment & Activities Strange entertainment; sort of Vegas-style. Could have been better. Did enjoy the free cocktail night though.

A good time except for bad weather. by
April C from Sacramento, CA
Sailing date: Dec 2007 Pros:
Eating and on shore activities
Cons:
The cost of alcohol and auto gratuities given (does not gaurantee gread service).
The first day was great, free champagne on initial sail as well as New Years Eve and at Captains Cocktail Party. Bad weather at the Cayman Islands...cancelled activites (nothing to do in the cayman's if the activities are cancelled). Off Board/ On Shore activities are awesome, highly recmd. The food variety is great, dinner food is wonderful (many many selections). Clubs have good music. The only thing I didn't like was that sodas are not free (although juice and coffee is), and the auto gratuity was added onto every alcohol purchase. I usually tip 20% anyway, but the auto added 15% was irritating when the service wasn't great. Most service WAS great, but not all. The pool water is salty, the activities on the ship are very fun! I didn't participate until the last day and I regret it. Color Wars and Battle of the Sexes is awesome, bingo is a rip off! Overall, I had a great time.
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality It would have been great to have an ironing board IN the room, and more outlets to plug in hair dryers, curling irons, etc. More hangers in the closet, too.
Ship Staff Quality Iputu from Indonesia (he's a drink server) was outstanding! He was so sweet and quick and funny. My dinner server wasn't the friendliest person, but he still did a good job.
Entertainment & Activities Since we had the late dinner, we often missed out on activities that we really wanted to participate in, such as Karaoke. We never got to Karaoke because we would have missed our dinner, and we enjoyed dinner so much, we didn't want to miss it. They should vary the times when the 6:00-10:00 activities take place so that all dinner times can enjoy them equally.
Collapse List of Ports
Cozumel, Mexico We went snorkeling, which was average (not many fish), but our tour guide, Alonzo, was awesome, brought free beer and sodas (yay!). There wasn't food available, and the "Mayan Ruins" were more like a little tiny Mayan home. We did see a beautiful view from a lighthouse, and some crocs too!
George Town, Grand Cayman We had bad weather. We were supposed to snorkel with stink rays (as if you're in an aquarium" but the activity was cancelled, which was a major bummer. Shopping was pretty lame. I'd go to Margaritaville if your activity is cancelled for some reason, or find another activity.
Montego Bay, Jamaica Canopy Zip line was amazing with the Chikka Crew. They were great. I wished though, that for $112.00, they had fed us. Not as scary as everyone makes it out to be. You just have to be smart.
Don't Miss: Canopy Zip Line
