A Wonderful Cruise! by
Amy O. from Memphis, TN
Sailing date: Aug 2009 Pros:
The Customer Service was amazing!
Cons:
More activities, such as arts & crafts, would be nice on days at sea.
Clean ship. A little dated, but still nice. However, it would have been a better ship if it had more than 1 swimming pool.

It's a food and fun frenzy! by
Goldie W from Northfield,VT
Sailing date: Jun 2009 Pros:
The food is exquisite, the service superb
Cons:
They offer 24 hour days; I can't do 24 hour days anymore.
Everything on the ship was great. The shore excursions were unnecessary. It was too hot to be doing anything. At progresso, the beachis right there at the end of the dock, and in Cozumel, the shopping is right at the end of the pier. I will save my money and do the land excursions on my own so I can make them as long or as short as I please.

First time cruise with teenagers by
Catherine L from Chattanooga, TN
Sailing date: Mar 2009 Pros:
Great food, friendly staff, well-run ship
Cons:
Crowds and loud music around main pool
I have to start by saying that we always thought we would find a cruise to be a little, well, tacky. However, we couldn't pass up the current low prices and booked a five-day cruise from New Orleans to Progreso and Cozumel. We are a family with teenage boys ages 14 and 16. Everyone had a fantastic time. We enjoyed watching all of the activity and marvelled at the logistics of operating the ship. The food was probably the best surprise--it never tasted or looked mass-produced. The staff was very competent but also very friendly. I don't think I ever passed by a staff member who didn't say hello. Everything about the cruise exceeded our expectations. We will definitely do another cruise.
Ship Quality The ship was very clean.
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality We had two oceanview staterooms, adjacent but not connected. They were very clean.
Ship Staff Quality Our stateroom steward Richard was fabulous.

Cozumel, Mexico We did the adventure park excursion. The boys really liked it--it is perfect for teens and older kids. The staff at the adventure park was a fun group. The beach is very pretty and the restaurant is good.
Progreso (Merida), Mexico We did the Dzibulchultan/beach break combo excursion. We did the Carnival excursions because we were first-time cruisers. It was fun, but you have more time to explore if you do things on your own.

Terrell M from Oklahoma City OK
Sailing date: Jan 2009 Pros:
The dining room staff is excellent
Cons:
Food quality was not as good as expected
Dated ship but well maintained
Ship Quality decent ship, not special as cruise ships go. Old style fin stablizers, allows some motion
Dining/Food decent food. One meal was great
Stateroom Quality decent room, nothing outstanding
Ship Staff Quality dining staff was great; other staff decent
Entertainment & Activities first night show was a stinker, others decent. costumes amaturish

Cozumel, Mexico Nothing special as best we could determine. Avoid ElCid excursion, complete ripoff
Don't Miss: decent free beaches

The Fantasy by
A Traveler from New Orleans, LA
Sailing date: Jun 2008 Pros:
The massage was great.
Cons:
Some entertainers were so so.
This was my 5th Carnival Cruise, but 1st time on the Fantasy. The ship was nice and clean. I have been on sister ships, so I felt like I knew where everything was located very quickly once on board. My experience was much like other Carnival Cruises I have been on: good food, good entertainment, and lots of fun activities. We had early seating and requested later seating once on board. Staff was very accomodating in handeling our request. I spent a fair amount of time in the casino. I think Carnival should comp drinks while gambling.

Cozumel, Mexico I have been to Cozumel several time and generally go to Chankanaab, then back to San Miguel for some shopping. This time I was traveling with some young adults, so we took a catamaran snokeling and then to their private beach. The snorkeling was not very good. The water was too deep where they dropped us off. The private beach was OK. We only stayed an hour. It was too rushed. There were several other beaches we passed along the way on our boat ride which appeared to have much more activities. After the tour, we spent the rest of the day at Carlos and Charlies and had a blast.

I'd cruise again by
edgardo from crowley, tx
Sailing date: Jun 2008 Pros:
No problems with any part of the cruise. All was as advertised. Seamless
The ship is fine, but my next choice would be to choose another Carnival ship that is larger like the Carnaval Triump...... Great food in the formal dining room and pretty good shows.

A budget cruise by
Bill P from Detroit, MI
Sailing date: Mar 2008 Pros:
friendly staff
Cons:
unhealthy buffet food selection and sales pitches
I booked an excursion off the internet (from a friend's suggestion) for our trip to Cozumel and was very impressed. I found that I got more for less money. One thing that i didn't consider was that our Mexican ports didn't use daylight savings time which would have been helpful when I booked our Scuba Diving excursion.
Although I have cruised with Carnival in the past (Carnival Holiday from Mobile, AL), I found the service to be much more budget directed than the outstanding service I received on Celebrity's ship Century.
There were a couple of free presentations on flatter stomachs were just a sales pitch to sell their overpriced detox products.
Since our trip was during Spring Break, there were plenty of families and the two teenage boys would hang out with their new friends as long as I would let them.
Ship Quality Our trip was during spring break and the ship never felt overly crowded.
all common areas were very clean. Most decor was updated and tastefully done but a couple areas looked like they were designed out of the 80's
Dining/Food formal dinners were nice with great service and very good food. Daytime buffets could have some more healthy dining options. The deck grill was focused on making cheeseburgers and I had to consistantly special order and wait to get a grilled chicken sandwich.
Stateroom Quality our stateroom attendant visited our room 2-3 times per day to fill the ice bucket, replace towels, and turn down the bed while we went to dinner. He even dropped off cookies one night for the boys.
Ship Staff Quality staff was very pleasant. They didn't always make eye contact with me but were always willing to assist with a smile if I had any questions. The kitchen staff seemed a little tired and over-worked at the buffet restaurants.
Entertainment & Activities nice selection of different adult clubs for evening entertainment. Daytime activities were satisfactory but the music on deck was a little too loud to carry on a conversation.
Children's Programs I brought my 13 year old son and his friend and once the boys came out of their shell, I hardly saw them. The ship had a teen dance club for 12-14 year olds (as well as another club for 15-18 year olds)
Collapse List of Ports
Cozumel, Mexico plenty of fun for all ages in Cozumel. Be prepared to be swarmed on as you pass the local shops (i wouldn't make eye contact and would keep walking). Carlos and Charlie's and Senior Frogs are Spring Break spots and NOT family oriented. The water is beautiful and there are many great shopping deals. We went scuba diving in this port and the water was very clear. If you go to this port, consider shopping for an excursion on the internet. You will get more for your money.
Progreso (Merida), Mexico open flea markets made for some good shopping bargains. Many families took excursions to Mayan ruins. Not great beaches compared to Cozumel

This was a wonderful cruise. by
Laura N from sacramento ca
Sailing date: Feb 2008 Pros:
Carnival staff, Butch, Ann, Kyle
Cons:
Getting off it took more than 4 hours you got to fix that.
The ship was clean, cabin a little small but then I am use to getting suites but I knew that I would not be spending much time in the cabin with so much to do. Food was great, the activities with Butch, Ann, Kyle and the rest was super. I won 3 ships-on-a-stick and a ribbon. We danced for at least 4 hours the music and groups were excellent, John at the bar, Bob in the piano bar, super. Congo lines and Bingo besides the gambling made it so special. I been on 10 cruise 6 with Carnival and the crew made it the best. The shows were also super. We did the horse back riding in Cozomal and it was a thrilling adventure. Hotwire made it so easy to book and we did save money booking with them. I has used their hotel booking this is the first cruise I booked with them and I would do again. I got all my documents from the web-site. Please thank everyone on the Carnival Fantasy and Hotwire for making this a super great vacation.
Dining/Food Wonderful and with all the dancing and games I did not gain one pound.
Stateroom Quality OK, the Fantasy is an older ship and it was fine for the little time I spent in it.
Ship Staff Quality Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful
Entertainment & Activities Wonderful, exciting, made me dance in my seat.

Great First Cruise by
Gary D. from Nixa, MO
Sailing date: Jan 2008 Pros:
The ship was very clean everywhere
Cons:
Places we stopped at were only marginal
Overall - this was a great experience. Every staff member we came in contact with was very nice. Room was more than adequate. Our serving staff was very attentive. Dining room food was very good - the buffets were okay. This is one of the more relaxing things we have ever done.
Ship Quality Very clean - and well kept - but it is an older ship

Cozumel, Mexico This is a beautiful place - but if you are not into shopping it gets very boring. We did find cheap corona!
Don't Miss: Shopping
Progreso (Merida), Mexico Really was not much to do here - unless you chose to ride quite a ways on a bus to see the ruins - probably would take that route if we went again.
Don't Miss: nothing
